Drop Ship Product Category Management Solutions
If you have a category loading in your file or on your site that you do not want, there are several options with your tools to manage this issue. You can block any Main or Sub Category from loading or being active in your site or file. You can also block new categories from automatically being added, while you get an email alert instead so you can approve, edit, or keep them blocked from future updates.
1- Use your Advanced Category Mapping Tool in your account. For any Main or Sub Category that you want blocked, make sure the “Exclude From Update” box is checked AND saved. This will keep this category and products from loading or deactivate the items already on your site when your update runs. If the category is already on your site, access the admin menu of your site and delete the category. This will instantly clear it from your store and the “Exclude” will keep it from loading again.
2- Also on your category tool is “Do you want new categories to load automatically?”. If you want more control over what loads in the future set this to “NO” AND save. Most suppliers keep consistent categories, but there are those which add new main categories or sub categories from time to time. If this setting is “YES”, while you might have organized your categories for your file or site, if your dropship supplier adds new categories, they would automatically load to the site in the morning with your update. This might impact your site design if you have categories in the header for example. It could impact your layout as well if you display category images. It might also cause product types to show that you are not interested in or do not fit your niche. If any of these are a concern or you feel your distributor often changes categories, just set this tool setting in your account at InventorySource.com to “NO”. When our system finds any new Main or Sub Category, we will mark it as excluded for you. We will also send your account an email notice alerting you to the new category change with more details. You can then access your account tool at any time and review the new addition. If you want to keep it excluded, do nothing. If you would like it loaded for you to your file or website, just remove the “Exclude From Update” box and you can customize it with a new category name, add a parent category above it, or move it to a new category. Simply apply the change you want AND save. When your update runs next, these changes will reflect automatically in the exact format you need.
