InventorySource.com Scam Watch:
Avoid The Adam at 801-528-1047 & Impact Rankings SEO Scam.
We wanted to alert our members, both those with sites hosted by Inventory Source and others with external platforms like 3dCart, Bigcommerce, Magento, Volusion, Open Cart and others about another scam reported by several members.
The scam works like similar online scams. They will look up your domain name and contact number (Most people do not pay the extra fee to have a privately registered domain which blocks your name and phone from showing with your domain name details when doing a domain lookup.) and they look for any way they can scam you to gain trust. If they see that you are working with Inventory Source, or if they see you are on a specific cart platform, they will say they are working with your service provider or have been asked by that provider to contact you on their behalf.
If ANYONE contacts you and says their company works with Inventory Source they are a SCAM. Inventory Source NEVER shares your details with anyone. Inventory Source NEVER has anyone contact you about your site and service other than our team. We NEVER have additional fees for site upgrades/fixes or additional services not specifically mentioned on our website. If you are ever unsure about the honesty or validity made by someone on a call, even if they say they work with or at your service provider, just contact that company using the contact details listed on their website.
The scam so far has been “Adam” calling saying that he “works with Inventory Source” and was asked to help them fix their website and upgrade some SEO and social media applications for their website. He often will not provide an email (you can always reach www.inventorysource.com at support@www.inventorysource.com shown here- http://www.inventorysource.com/support/) While Adam often does not provide any details from his website, one member was able to get him to confirm he works for a website called Impact Rankings (ImpactRankings.com). In each of the scam reports he has left his contact number as 801-528-1047. Again, www.inventorysource.com will ONLY have you contact us with the number listed on our support page and in our internal accounts.
So with the scam from ImpactRankings.com and Adam at 801-528-1047 he is trying to gain your trust by making it seem like he is affiliated in some way with www.inventorysource.com but he is 100% a SCAM. There is ZERO truth to this claim. If you have given him (or any other provider making this type of claim) any website access please let us know, so we can help update it for you and protect you. If you have paid any money to someone like this please let us know as well so we can see how best to help.
This seems to be the most common scam approach when you have a new domain or new website. Since your contact details are easy to find and because they might identify a service provider or cart platform that you use from reviewing your store details they try to gain your trust by referencing a company, like Inventory Source, that you already trust and value. If you are EVER unsure about someone speaking to you on the phone or via email about some new surprise charge or need for your website, and if you have ANY doubt about their claims, get their details (name, number, website, email) and hang up. You can search for those details online or contact your trusted support team at your REAL service provider and they can help validate their claims or more likely their status as a SCAM that you should avoid at all cost.
